Was Jesus Crucified or Crucificted? Debate Lecture

His name was unusual and incomplete. Julaybib means "small grown" being the diminutive form of the word "Jalbab". The name is an indication that Julaybib was small and short, even of dwarf-like stature. More than that, he is described as being "damim" which means ugly, deformed, or of repulsive appearance.

Even more disturbing, for the society in which he lived, Julaybib's lineage was not known. There is no record of who his mother or his father was or to what tribe he belonged. This was a grave disability in the society in which he lived. Julaybib could not expect any compassion or help, any protection or support from a society that placed a great deal of importance on family and tribal connections. In this regard, all that was known of him was that he was an Arab and that, as far as the new community of Islam was concerned, he was one of the Ansar. Perhaps he belonged to one of the outlying tribes beyond Madinah and had drifted into the city or he could even have been from among the Ansar of the city itself.

The disabilities under which Julaybib lived would have been enough to have him ridiculed and shunned in any society and in fact he was prohibited by one person, a certain Abu Barzah of the Aslam tribe, from entering his home. He once told his wife: "Do not let Julaybib enter among you. If he does, I shall certainly do (something terrible to him)." Probably because he was teased and scoffed at in the company of men, Julaybib used to take refuge in the company of women. Was there any hope of Julaybib being treated with respect and consideration? Was there any hope of his finding emotional satisfaction as an individual and as a man? Was there any hope of his enjoying the relationships which others take for granted? And in the new society emerging under the guidance of the Prophet, was he so insignificant as to be overlooked in the preoccupation with the great affairs of state and in the supreme issues of life and survival which constantly engaged the attention of the Prophet?

Just as he was aware of the great issues of life and destiny, the Prophet of Mercy was also aware of the needs and sensibilities of his most humble companions. With Julaybib in mind, the Prophet went to one of the Ansar and said: "I want to have your daughter married."
"How wonderful and blessed, O Messenger of God and what a delight to the eye (this would be)," replied the Ansari man with obvious joy and happiness.

"I do not want her for myself," added the Prophet.

"Then for whom, O Messenger of God?" asked the man, obviously somewhat let down. "For Julaybib," said the Prophet.

The Ansari must have been too shocked to give his own reaction and he merely said: "I will consult with her mother." And off he went to his wife. "The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, wants to have your daughter married," he said to her. She too was thrilled. "What a wonderful idea and what a delight to the eye (this would be)," she said.
"He doesn't want to marry her himself but he wants to marry her to Julaybib," he added. She was flabbergasted.

"To Julaybib! No, never to Julaybib! No, by the living God, we shall not marry (her) to him," she protested.

As the Ansari was about to return to the Prophet to inform him of what his wife had said, the daughter who had heard her mother's protestations, asked: "Who has asked you to marry me?"
Her mother told her of the Prophet's request for her hand in marriage to Julaybib. When she heard that the request had come from the Prophet and that her mother was absolutely opposed to the idea, she was greatly perturbed and said: "Do you refuse the request of the Messenger of God? Send me to him for he shall certainly not bring ruin to me." This was the reply of a truly great person who had a clear understanding of what was required of her as a Muslim. What greater satisfaction an d fulfillment can a Muslim find than in responding willingly to the requests and commands of the Messenger of God!

No doubt, this companion of the Prophet, whose name we do not even know had heard the verse of the Quran: "Now whenever God and His Apostle have decided a matter, it is not for a believing man or believing woman to claim freedom of choice in so far as they themselves are concerned. And he who disobeys God and His Prophet has already, most obviously, gone astray." (The Quran, Surah al-Ahzab, 33:36).

This verse was revealed in connection with the marriage of Zaynab bint Jahsh and Zayd ibn al-Harithah which was arranged by the Prophet to show the egalitarian spirit of Islam. Zaynab at first was highly offended at the thought of marrying Zayd a former slave and refused to do so. The Prophet prevailed upon them both and they were married. The marriage however ended in divorce and Zaynab was eventually married to the Prophet himself. It is said that the Ansari girl read the verse to her parents and said : "I am satisfied and submit myself to whatever the Messenger of God deems good for me."

The Prophet heard of her reaction and prayed for her: "O Lord, bestow good on her in abundance and make not her life one of toil and trouble."

Among the Ansar, it is said there was not a more eligible bride than she. She was married by the Prophet to Julaybib and they lived together until he was killed.

And how was Julaybib killed? He went on an expedition with the Prophet, peace be on him, and an encounter with some mushrikin ensued. When the battle was over, the Prophet asked his companions: "Have you lost anyone?" They replied giving the names of their relatives of close friends who were killed. He put the same questions to other companions and they also named the ones they had lost in the battle. Another group answered that they had lost no close relative whereupon the Prophet said: "But I have lost Julaybib. Search for him in the battlefield." They searched and found him beside seven mushrikin whom he had struck before meeting his end. The Prophet stood up and went to the spot where Julaybib, his short and deformed companion, lay.

He stood over him and said: "He killed seven and then was killed? This (man) is of me and I am of him." He repeated this two or three times. The Prophet then took him in his arms and it is said that he had no better bed besides the forearms of the messenger of God. The Prophet then dug for him a grave and himself placed him in it. He did not wash him for martyrs are not washed before burial. Julaybib and his wife are not usually among the companions of the Prophet whose deeds are sung and whose exploits are recounted with reverence and admiration as they should be. But in the meager facts that are known about them and which have here been re counted we see how humble human beings were given hope and dignity by the Prophet where once there was only despair and self-debasement.

The attitude of the unknown and unnamed Ansari girl who readily agreed to be the wife of a physically unattractive man was an attitude which reflected a profound understanding of Islam. It reflected on her part the effacement of personal desires and preferences even when she could have counted on the support of her parents. It reflected on her part a total disregard for social pressures. It reflected above all a ready and implicit confidence in the wisdom and authority of the Prophet in submitting herself to whatever he deemed good. This is the attitude of the true believer.

In Julaybib, there is the example of a person who was almost regarded as a social outcast because of his appearance. Given help, confidence and encouragement by the noble Prophet, he was able to perform acts of courage and make the supreme sacrifice and deserve the commendation of the Prophet: "He is of me and I am of him."

How to perform Wudo/Wuzoo/Ablution!

Dua-e-Qunoot

Transliteration of Dua-e-Qunoot:

"Allah humma inna nasta-eenoka wa nastaghfiruka wa nu'minu bika wa natawakkalu alaika wa nusni alaikal khair, wa nashkuruka wala nakfuruka wa nakhla-oo wa natruku mai yafjuruka, Allah humma iyyaka na'budu wa laka nusalli wa nasjudu wa ilaika nas aaa wa nahfizu wa narju rahma taka wa nakhshaa azaabaka inna azaabaka bil kuffari mulhikun"

Translation of Dua-e-Qunoot:

"O' Allah! We implore You for help and beg forgiveness of You and believe in You and rely on You and extol You and we are thankful to You and are not ungrateful to You and we alienate and forsake those who disobey You. O' Allah! You alone do we worship and for You do we pray and prostrate and we betake to please You and present ourselves for the service in Your cause and we hope for Your mercy and fear Your chastisement. Undoubtedly, Your torment is going to overtake infidels"

Difference in Namaaz between men & women

When beginning to perform salaat, a woman raises both hands up to the level of her shoulders and NOT to her ears.
While standing she puts her right hand on the left hand. However, she does not grasp her left wrist the fingers of her right hand.
She puts her hands on her breast. This is for modesty.
While making ruku, her hands are placed on the knees, but do not grasp them (the knees). She keeps her fingers close together. She does not keep her legs straight, nor her back level.
While making sajda, she lowers herself, bringing her arms to her side while she keeps her abdomen placed over her thighs.
She sits on the buttocks, her legs inclined towards right.
A woman cannot be imam for men. If they follow a man as imam, they should be in last line of the jama'at.
While performing salaat in jama'at, if a woman stands besides or in front of a man, the man salaat will be Fasid (nullified).

MAJOR Signs on Qayamat!

I've started compiling this article. Will list them in points so its easier for you to get back to it just in case you are lost half way in the article. Join the mailing list to receive this article as soon as it is updated.

Signs of Qayamat
1. Before the day of Qiyamat, great events will take place and the people at the time will ask one another if Nabi (PBUH) has mentioned anything about them.
2. Thirty big liars will appear and the name of the last one will be Dajjal.
3. Until the advent of Hazrat Isa (AS) one Jamaat will continue to propogate Haqq (truth) to the Ummat.
4. This Jamaat will not be bothered by the objectors (Kuffars and Munafiqs).
Imam Mahdi
5. The last amir of this Jamaat will be Imam Mahdi.
6. Imam Mahdi will have an exemplary personality.
7. He will be a descendant of the Ahle Bait of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
8. Hazrat Isa (Jesus A.S) will descent while Imam Mahdi is still alive.
9. According to an Ayat of the Quran, this will be amongst the signs of the coming of Qayamat.
10. A Jamaat of Muslims that will comprise the people loved by Allah, will wage Jihad on India and be successfull in it. They will bring forth the defeated leaders in chains and locks in their necks.
11. At the time when this army will return from Jihad, they will find Hazrat Isa (A.S) in Syria.

Events Before the apperance of Dajjal (Anti-Christ)
12. On reaching Rumi, A'mak or Debiq from Madina, a Muslim army comprising the most upright, decent pious and respectable people of the time will be dispatched to wage Jihad. When the armies will be facing each other, the Romans will demand the return of their prisoners of war and the Muslims will not accede to their demand. Thereafter a war will ensue. In battle a third of the Muslims will retreat and their repentance will no be accepted by Allah. Another third will be Martyred and they will be the best of Martyrs. The remaining third will be victorious and Allah will project and save them from all types of fitna (trials) in the future.
13. These people will then conquer Palestine.
14. While they will be distributing poetry, a rumour will spread on the appearance of Dajjal. On hearing the rumour, the army will depart from there.

The Appearance of Dajjal
15. Dajjal will only appear when the Muslim army has reached Syria.
16. Before the actual appearance of Dajjal, rumours will be spread thrice, hence the people will be afraid.
17. At the time of the appearance of Dajjal, there will be very few pious, upright, decent and respectable people around and animosity will be rife among the people.
18. The will be very weak.
19. Ilm (knowledge) will be very weak.
20. There will be few Arabs at the time.
21. Most of the followers of Dajjal will be women and Jews.
22. The Jews will number 70,000, be armed with double edged swords and wear highly expensive Silk attire.
23. Dajjal will appear between Syria and Iraq.
24. He will make himself known at a place called “Yahoodia” in Isfahan, Iran.

Physical Features of Dajjal
25. He will be a youth resembling Abdul Uzza bin Qutm.
26. He will be wheat colored with curly (peppercorn) hair.
27. Both of his eyes will be defective.
28. His right eye will have a squint.
29. The left eye will have swelling pupil.
30. The left eye will have a swelling pupil.
31. The word “Kafir” will be written in Arabic on his forehead.
32. He will ride donkey whose two ears will be a distance of forty hands apart.(Guess what that could be, if you are smart)
33. His speed will be swift like the clouds and the wind.
34. With his speed, he will roam the whole world as if the earth is folded up for him.
35. He will spread every type of Fassad (mischief) on earth.
36. He will not be able to enter Makkah, Madina or Bait-ul-Muqaddas.
37. In that time there will be 7 doors in Madinah.
38. The angels will be patrolling each road in Makkah and Madinah and will not allow him to enter.
39. He will stop outside Madinah at the edge of the salty lands of Zarib Ahmar and Khundaq.
40. He will overwhelm (overpower) the people outside Madinah.
41. During that period there will be three earthquakes in Madinah that will destroy all the hypocrites (Munafikeen).
42. The hypocrites will be the helpers of Dajjal.
43. Women will be among the first to follow Dajjal.
44. Madinah will be rid of all hypocrites. The day this occurs will be called “The Day of Najataat”, “Day of Salvation”.
45. When the people will disturb him, he will retreat angrily.

The Fitna (Mischief) of Dajjal
46. The Fitna of Dajjal will be so severe that there will be no greater fitna in human history to compare it to.
47. This is the reason why every Nabi informed his Ummat about the fitna of Dajjal.
48. No other Nabi gave the details that Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) fave us.
49. Dajjal will first claim prophethood and thereafter godhood.
50. He will have with hima huge treasure (quantity) of food.
51. The hidden treasures of the eath will come out at his command and follow him.
52. He will heal (cure) the people who were born blind and the lepers.
53. Allah will send Satans with him who will talk to the people.
54. Consequently he will ask a villager. "If I bring back your parents alive, will you accept me as your God?" The village will accept his challenge. He will bring two Satans in front of the villager in the shape of his parents who will tell the villager, "son follow him, he is your Rabb".
55. ---
56. Whoever will testify him will become a Kafir and all his previous deeds will be null and void. Whoever will reject him, will have all his sins forgiven.
57. One major fitna will be that when one will accept Dajjal's word on his instructions, the clouds will provide rain on his land, the land will sprout vegetation, the cattle will be plump and their udders will be full of milk. Those who will not accept him, will earn his anger and their cattle will be destroyed.
58. In brief, all those who will not follow Dajjal, will be in great difficulty.
59. No person will be able to kill Dajjal beside Hazrat Isa (A.S).
60. In the form of rivers, valleys and fire, Dajlla will have a jamaat with him. In reality, the jamaat will be fire and the fire jamaat.
61. When a person will fall in it (fire), then his reward and blessings will be definite and his sins forgiven.
62. The person who will recite the first ten Ayats of Surah Kahf on Dajjal, will be saved to such and extent from his fitna that if Dajjal will put him in the fire, it will be cool for him.
63. Dajjal will cut into two a (Momin) youth with his sword or saw. Then he will call it, (with the order of Allah) he will become alive again.
64. Dajjal will ask him to state who is your Rabb. He will reply "My Rabb is Allah and you are Dajjal the enemy of Allah, I am today more certain than before on your "Dajjaliat" (Deception)".
65. Besides this person, Dajjal will not be given the ability of killing and bringing back to life anyone else.
66. Dajjal's fitna will be fourty days, from which the first day will be as long as a year, the second day will be equal to a month, the third day will be equal to a week and the balance of thirty seven days will be normal.
67. During this period, there will be three Muslim cities. One will be on the edge of two seas, the second "Hira" in Iraq and the thrid in Syria. He will defeat the people of the east and go to the City on the edge of the two seas.
68. The people of this city will be divided into three groups.
69. A groupd will remain and follow Dajjal and another will go aay into the village (wilderness).
70. A group will migrate to a neighbouring city and Dajjal will go there as well. Similarly, here too, the people will be divided into three groups, with the third group moving away to a neighbouring city to the west part of Syria.
71. All the momins will gather at Urdoon (Urdun a place in Syria) and Bait-ul-Muqaddas.
72. Dajjal will reach a place in Syria near Palestine where the gate of Ludd is.
73. Muslims will draw into a valley named "Aafiq" from where they will send for grazing their cattle which will be totally destroyed.
74. Eventually the Muslims will enclose themselves in one of the Mountains of Bait-ul-Muqaddas.
75. Whose (its) name is "Jabatul Dukhan" (Mount of Smoke), (Smoking Mountain).
76. Dajjal will encamp on the foot of the mountain and siege (surround) one Jamaat of the Muslims.
77. This siege will be severe.
78. Due to this, the Muslims will be in severe difficulty (will be engulfed in poverty and need).
79. To such an extent that some of them will burn their bow strips and eat them.
80. Dajjal will for the last time appear in the area of Urdoon (Urdun) in a valley called "Afiq" at a time when whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day will present there. He, (Dajjal) will kill a third of the Muslims, defeat a third and a third of the Muslims will remain.
81. (When the siege will be extended unduly) The Muslims Amir, (i.e Imam Mahdi) will say : "Now what are we waiting for , fight this arrogant Dajjal, so that you may obtain one thing, Martyrdom or victory. Thus all the Muslims will make a firm pledge and on the onset of the morn (after Fajr Salaat) they will wage war against Dajjal.

Fitrah, Zakat al-Fitrah

Hope you all paid Zakat al-Fitrah. Below is some information on Zakat al-Fitrah in context to islam and sunnah.

Q. What is Zakat al-Fitrah?
A: It is religious tax/alms (Zakat) paid on the day when Muslims break the fasting period at the end of the month of Ramadan. This alms is known as Zakat al-Fitrah.

Q. What do the Qur'an and Hadith say about Fitrah?
A: Imams (as) say that the verses: Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success, and glorifies the Name of his Lord and prays (87:14 & 15) refer to giving of Fitrah and saying prayers on Eid al-Fitr. Hazrat Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (A.S.) said: for your fast to be accepted, give zakat.

Q. When does Fitrah become wajib (obligatory)?
A. Payment of Fitrah becomes obligatory after sunset on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. The Fitrah should be kept aside and paid on Eid al-Fitr before Eid prayers or before midday for those who cannot say their Eid prayers. It is necessary to have obligatory intention (Niyyah) of giving Fitrah for God's pleasure only.

Q. What happens if someone forgets or does not give Fitrah on time?
A. If one does not give out or set aside the Fitrah within the due time, he should give the Fitrah later, on the basis of precaution, without making the niyyah of adaa or qadhaa but only Qurbatan Ilallah.

Q. Can we give Fitrah in advance?
A. Giving Fitrah before the eve of Eid al-Fitr is not permissible. However, if you wish to send Fitrah earlier so that it reaches the needy on time, then you can send it as a temporary loan to the needy and then change your intention from loan to Fitrah on the eve of Eid al-Fitr.

Q. To whom is Fitrah obligatroy?
A. Paying Fitrah is obligatory on every Muslim who is mature (baligh), sane, financially able, and conscious on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. Fitrah should also be paid on behalf of all dependents (e.g. wife, children) whom one supports financially.

Q. When is a host required to pay Fitrah for his guest?
A. If a person invites another person to his house on the eve of Eid al-Fitr and if the guest is present at the host's place at the time of the sunset then it is obligatory for the host to pay Fitrah for his guest.

Q. What happens if the guest arrives after the sunset on Eid night?
A. In this case the guest will pay his/her own Fitrah and it is not obligatory on the host to pay Fitrah for the guest.

Q. What happens if a guest comes uninvited and is present at the time of the sunset on the eve of Eid al-Fitr?
A. Ayatullah Sayyid As-Sistani says that the host should still pay the Fitrah as an obligatory precaution. However, Marhum Ayatullah Sayyid al-Khui was of the opinion that is recommended for the host to pay Fitrah of an uninvited guest.

Q. How much should we pay for Fitrah?
A. Fitrah for a person is given on a weight of three kilograms (one sa'a) on any food commodity like wheat, barley, rice, millet, raisins or dates. Ayatullah Sayyid As-Sistani is of the opinion that the item that is not a staple food in your town should not be given in Fitrah. Say, for example, if millet is not a staple in Vancouver then Vancouver Mumineen should not pay Fitrah on millet.

Q. Can we give cash value of any commodity mentioned above?
A. Yes, cash value in lieu of any foodstuff mentioned can be given as Fitrah. Thus, if a kilo of rice costs $2.00, the cash value of Fitrah on rice per person would be $6.00. We recommend, Fitrah on basmati rice to be Canadian Dollars 7.00 for residents of Canada and US Dollars 6.00 for US residents. (Please check prices for other items in your areas.)

Q. Whom should we give the Fitrah to?
A. It is given to the needy who are unable to meet their own or their dependants annual living expenses, nor do they have the means to do so through earning. Ayatullah Sayyid As-Sistani says that the needy who is given the fitrah must be a Shiah Ithna Ashari.

Q. Who should not be given the Fitrah?
A. A needy who: consumes alcohol, does not say his daily prayers (salat), commits sins openly, or he who is known to use the Fitrah in sinful way.

Q. Are there any additional rules that we need to be aware of?
A. Following are some important rules:
(i) Fitrah should not be sent outside the town one resides in, if there are deserving Mumineen in that town.
(ii) Fitrah from a non-Sayyid cannot be given to a needy Sayyid; the reverse is permissible.
(iii) A needy should be given at least one Fitrah.
(iv) Amongst the needy, relatives should be preferred over others when giving Fitrah, next in line are neighbors and then the learned.

GRATEFULNESS:
Islam commands us to be GRATEFUL to ALLAH by using His favours in proper manners. We should share ALLAH's favours on us, with others. Allah can provide them (needy ones) better than what He has given to us, but He wants to test us: Is the love of Allah more in our hearts or the love of Dollars?

Sadaqah al-Fitr (voluntary charity) is a very important part of Fasting in Ramadan. One very important aspect of fasting is that we become aware of how poor people feel. Poverty is a cause of many problems.

Many of our ministers do not know what starvation is like, and they have other interests. How would they try to solve this problem?

Al Hamdulillah, Islam has really solved the big problem of Slavery. And Insha Allah, Poverty will be solved.

As much as i'm excited for Eid, I'm somewhat sad that Ramadan is over. Such a blessed month. I noticed Eid isn't in USA till tomorrow (Oct 13th 2007) and the visitors have already started decreasing. Dua-e-Istikhara (Suggestions from God)

"Istikhara" means to seek goodness from Allah (Exalted is He), meaning when one intends to do an important task they do istikhara before the task. The one who does the istikhara is as if they request Allah Almighty that, O the Knower of Unseen (Exalted is He) guide me if this task is better for me or not?

According to Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 21, Number 263:Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah :The Prophet (Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam) used to teach us the way of doing Istikhara, in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the Quran. He said, "If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a two Rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say the above dua (after the prayer)"

WAY TO PERFORM ISTIKHARA:
First pray two cycles of ritual prayer [raka'] such that in the first raka' after Surah Fatiha (Allhamd…) recite Surah al-Kafirun (Chapter 109) and in the second raka' after Fatiha (Allhamd…) recite Surah al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112) and after finishing prayer [salam] then recite this (supplication/dua'): Dua in Arabic Text above.

TRANSLITERAION of Dua e Istikhara:
Allahumma inni astakheeroka bi ilmik. Wa'astaq-diroka biqudratika. Wa'as'aloka min fadlikal-azeem. Fa'innaka taqdiru wala aqdir. Wata lamo wala-a lam. Wa'anta-allamul ghuyoob. Allahumma in kunta ta lamu anna (hathal-amra*) khair ul-lee fi deenee wa ma'ashi wa aakibati amri aw aajili amri wa'ajilah, faqdorho lee, wayassirho lee, somma-bariko lee fih. Wa'in kunta talamo anna (hathal-amra*) sharrul-lee fi deenee. Wama ashi. Wa aakibati amri, Wa aajila amri. Wa'ajilaho. Fasrifho annee. Wasrifnee anh. Waqdur leyal-khayra haytho kaana somma ardini bih.

* When making the du'a, the actual matter or decision should be mentioned instead of the words "hathal-amra" ("this matter").

TRANSLATION of Dua-e-Istikhara:
"O Allah! I seek goodness from Your Knowledge and with Your Power (and Might) I seek strength, and I ask from You Your Great Blessings, because You have the Power and I do not have the power. You Know everything and I do not know, and You have knowledge of the unseen. Oh Allah! If in Your Knowledge this action ------------------------------------------------ (which I intend to do) is better for my religion and faith, for my life and end [death], for here [in this world] and the hereafter then make it destined for me and make it easy for me and then add blessings [baraka'] in it, for me. O Allah! In Your Knowledge if this action is bad for me, bad for my religion and faith, for my life and end [death], for here [in this world] and the hereafter then turn it away from me and turn me away from it and whatever is better for me, ordain [destine] that for me and then make me satisfied with it."

How many times?
It depends. Sometimes it takes only once to get the answer and sometimes it takes longer. It is better to do istakhara seven (7) times and right after reciting the supplication, given above, sleep with ablution (people who cannot keep the ablution for longer times due to health problems do not have to worry about ablution before falling asleep) facing the direction of the Qibla (facing the Qibla is not required but it is a Sunnat of our beloved Prophet Peace Be Upon Him). It is better to recite salutations (durood/ salawat) on the Prophet Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him before and after the above Dua (supplication).

Answer to your Dua:
If in the dream one sees whiteness (means any thing white in color, for example: milk, white paper, white sky, white clothes, white light etc.) or greenness (means any thing green in color, for example: grass, plants, trees, green clothes, green light etc.) then understand that this task is better and if one sees redness (means any thing red in color, for example: blood, red clothing, red fruit, red light etc.) or blackness (means any thing black in color, for example: black water, black light, black clothings, black sky, black wall etc. ) then understand it is bad and avoid it.
If do not remember any dream or do not see any colors then follow your heart. Whatever intention grows stronger in your heart regarding your targated work follow it after seven days of Istakhara.

Do dreams have a meaning. Does vision come true!

A lot of viewers have started asking questions about dreams and what islam and hadith tells us about them. People have sent me some YouTube videos where people Naozu Billah are converting to other religions because they saw other prophets like Jesus (A.S) or their ancestors giving them a message.

So here i go, if i have overlooked any questions please post a comment or question to this article, inshallah i will respond to it as soon as i find the answers.

Before anything I'd like you to consider this Hadith from Sahih Bukhari

Narrated by Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "Name yourselves with my name (use my name) but do not name yourselves with my Kunya name (i.e. Abu-l Qasim). And whoever sees me in a dream then surely he has seen me for Satan cannot impersonate me. And whoever tells a lie against me (intentionally), then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire." (Book #3, Hadith #110)

Satan can impersonate anybody in your dream to misguide. He can come in the form of Jesus, Moses, someone dear to you, your father, your mother EXCEPT he cannot impersonate Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). So be careful when making a judgement about such dreams.

Dreams are of three types

Rahmaani or Ruyaa (those that come from Allah, often referred to as glad tidings in the Quran)
Nafsaani (psychological, they come from within a person, his desires, or from things that he emphasizes or constantly thinks about)
Shaytaani or Hulum (those that come from the Shaytaan).

The truthfulness of the dream is related to the sincerity of the dreamer. Those who have the most truthful dreams are those who are the most truthful in speech. (Muslim, 4200) Towards the end of time, hardly any dreams will be untrue.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: “That will be because the Prophethood and its effects will be so far away in time, so the believers will be given some compensation in the form of dreams which will bring them some good news or will help them to be patient and steadfast in their faith.” (Sahih-Bukhaari, 6499; Muslim, 4200)

Another Hadith narrated by Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) as saying:
"When the time draws near (when the Resurrection is near) a believer’s dream can hardly be false. And the truest vision will be of one who is himself the most truthful in speech, for the vision of a Muslim is the forty-fifth part of Prophecy, and dreams are of three types: One, a good dream which is a sort of good tidings from Allah; the evil dream which causes pain and is from Satan; and the third one is a suggestion of one’s own mind; so if any one of you sees a dream which he does not like he should stand up and offer prayer and he should not relate it to people…."

What do you do when you see a good or a bad dream?
Couple of Hadith I pulled out of Sahih Muslim and Bukhari

Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If any one of you sees a dream that he likes, this is from Allah, so let him praise Allah for it and talk about it to others. If he sees other than that, a dream that he dislikes, this is from the Shaytaan, so let him seek refuge with Allahfrom its evil and not mention it to anyone, for it will not harm him.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6584, and Muslim, 5862).

Reported from Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “If any one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, let him spit to his left three times, and seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytaan three times, and turn over from the side on which he was sleeping.” (Narrated by Muslim, 5864)

Now some Tips in light of Quran and Sunnah:

So When you have a good/truthful dream - you should be happy, tell it to people who are liked by you and not to those whom you dislike, thank Allah for his Glory and Mercy. And by good dreams it means when you wake up with a happy vibe or an with an essence of positive feeling.

And When you have a bad dream - remember bad dreams are from Shaitaan, if the bad dream wakes you up, you should dry spit on your left three times and say ''Aaozu Billah hi minas Shaitaan ir Rajeem." Get up and pray and ask Allah for refuge. Turn your face in the direction of the qiblah while sleeping. DO NOT tell it to anyone who you can't trust, you could possibly tell it to someone who is very very very close to you. I suggest you don't seek interpretation for bad dreams as you may not like what it discloses.

Don't Lie about Dreams - You shouldn't lie about dreams or make up dreams just for conversation or attention sake. It narrated thatProphet Muhammad (PBUH) said,
"Indeed the worst of lies is that of a person who falsely claims to have dream."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari)
"Whoever claims to have dream which he did not have, will be ordered to tie two barley grains together, which he will never be able to do; and if somebody eavesdrop on some people's conversation which they didn't want him to hear or they tried to keep away from him, then molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection; and whosoever makes a picture (of a being with a soul) will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and (will) be ordered to put a soul in it, which he will not be able to do."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

All dreams don't have the same interpretations - Another thing that i should point when seeking dream interpretation is that if two different people have the same dream it doesn't mean the intrepretation is the same for both of them. So be careful before jumping to any conculsions when seeking intrepretation.

Want to have true dreams and avoid bad dreams - Don't we all! For this we should strive to speak honestly, eat halaal food, adhere to the commandments of shari'ah, avoid that which Allah and His Messenger (PBUH) have forbidden, sleep in a state of complete purity facing the Qiblah, and remember Allah until you feel your eyelids drooping. Do this you WILL see the difference.

Some more suggestions: If you are with me so far, id suggest to read Surah Yousuf (Joseph) if you haven't yet. Allah gave him the power to interpret dreams.
